Understanding and overcoming anxiety

Learn about what anxiety is, why it happens, why we each get anxious about different things, and importantly: try out simple, effective techniques for working on it.

OVERVIEW

Anxiety is something that all of us experience to some degree, but sometimes it gets very intense and is hard to break out of.

This is a practical, compassionate workshop designed for anyone who wants to understand anxiety more deeply, whether that is for themselves or for the people they support.

We start with an overview of the different ways anxiety shows up, what causes it and what keeps it going. That includes thought processes, the physical symptoms that come with anxiety and the behaviours that we tend to use (both helpful and unhelpful).

From there we move into practical techniques, learning how to break out of the cycle of anxiety by working with your thoughts, physically calming your body, and how to use experiments and graded exposure in order to work on anxiety in a way that feels manageable.

Whether you are attending for your own personal growth or to strengthen your work as a coach or helping professional, you will leave with a clearer understanding of anxiety and a set of tools you can use straight away.

For those of you who want to use these skills in your coaching practice, this course is currently pending ICF CCE accreditation.
